If you get there by 10, you can get still get dinner or light plates at Bacaro. But don’t feel rushed. The eatery will stay open until you’re done. Choose from a wide selection of antipasti and insalati – prosciutto and figs ($8), beet and arugula salad with oranges, pine nuts and goat cheese ($7), or a traditional tomato and mozzarella with balsamic and extra virgin olive oil ($8). The pastas are fresh and flavorful from the light cappellini (angel hair) to the rich lobster and ricotta ravioli with jumbo prawn ($18). And that’s just the primi! Fill up on the secondi: seared tuna with butter poached asparagus ($21), chicken piccata and mashed potatoes ($21), and veal medallions with artichoke, asparagus and tomato ragu ($17). And on weekends, they push the tables in the back to the side making room for a large dance floor. In warmer weather, bands take over the rooftop bar.
